My family has been frequenting Ristorante Tevere for three generations now.  Although I could never get enough of their pizza, the restaurant grew a little tired.  Well tired no more – there is a new face of Teveres and I give it two thumbs up…and bonus points as it is now a BYOB!

They have renovated the entire space giving it a fresh, modern look.  They no longer have the live band (who I will miss) but they do have two TV’s and an interesting selection of music playing (Sir Mix A Lot ‘Baby Got Back’).  The new menu has a variety of options and so far – I have been impressed with everything I have tried.

* The salads are fresh and have nice light homemade dressings.

* The soups are hot, not too salty but very flavorful.

* The meatballs are mouthwatering whichever way you choose them – in the tomato or creamy mushroom sauce.

* The chicken and steak are generously portioned topped with either grilled vegetables or caramelized onions.

* And most importantly, the pizzas (although now only served in individual size) are as delicious as ever.

If you are out in Dorval – give it a try!

Bon Appétit!

Good afternoon everybody! I will be back later today with a Vegas fashion post, as promised, but wanted to stay true to my new year’s resolution of being a better blogger and decided to check in with a quickie post. With everyone back from all their holiday vacations,  it’s been a very hectic morning today at the office. I have been running left and right and could not believe when my collegue stood up and asked if I wanted to join him for lunch. “Lunch? Isn’t it like 10?” …. He looked a me like I was a nutbag and said “Nooooo it’s past noon you weirdo!”. Well, as the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun… haha. ANYWAY, I realized I was running so much and hadn’t taken a break at all, so I thought it would be good for me to switch my work brain off for a little and recharge by writting. So writting it is.

Last night when I got home from work, E texted me saying that he would be trying a new class at the gym and asked if I wanted to go. I was exhausted from my day, and even though I probably should have gone to the gym, I just couldn’t get myself motivated so I kindly declined the invite. Besides… I had noooo idea where my running shoes were ;) I opted out and told him I would just chill and maybe watch a movie. T called shortly after that to talk about work (my other work) and to say that she and B would be going on a date night to this restaurant we used to go to that recently converted to a BYOB. So I, being the little bratty sister I am :P , replied with a very sad “Oh, that’s nice. E is out, so I guess I’ll just make myself a bowl of cereal”. I was joking… of course… but T, being the good big sister she is, would never just let  me eat cereal all by myself so she invited me along. I told her I was kidding and that I didn’t want to ruin their date night, but she insisted and said they would be by shortly to pick me up. Lucky she did, because I was about to send her this picture of me drinking solo:

I threw on some clothes and was out the door. On the way there, K called B to ask him a question about the internet and said that her BF was out watching the hockey game. Well, being the good brother he is, B wouldn’t have it and invited K along too and she, as I did, threw on an outfit and was out the door. Now, instead of there being one 3rd wheel on their date night, they would also have a 4th! We arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before K, and B was very happy to see that they had the hockey game on the TV so he could watch as we chatted. And boy did we chat! I hadn’t seen K since before Vegas, so we caught up, drank wine, and laughed a lot. As I mentioned here, sometimes the best nights are the ones that aren’t planned; the spontaneous ‘come for dinner’ texts can turn a plain, boring, Wednesday night into a great night with loved ones.

So there you have it, that’s the story of how I ruined T&B’s date night :) Sorry guys! I love being with my sisters, and brother and am so happy that we are close and get to have these nights together. Not many people have a family like mine, I know this and I know how truly blessed I am. Well, this quickie post turned out a little longer than I wanted it to be, sorry… But before I go, I’d like to give a shoutout to our 4th sistah K. We miss her dearly and wish she lived closer so she could join us in our spur of the moment dinners. We’ll see her soon though, and we’ll open up a bottle of champagne when we do :)  Have a great Thursday afternoon everyone!

With Love,

S

Good afternoon everyone! I hope that everyone is having a lovely Wednesday and that you’re all happy the weekend is on its way… we all I know that I love me a good weekend, especially a ‘weekend after coming home from a trip to Vegas’ weekend. As I promised, I am writing another Vegas post to share some more pictures, but it will be a themed post. The theme: Food, Glorious Food. If you like to eat, then Vegas is the place for you. Whatever your fancy, they’ve got it in Vegas! Though I have to admit, I forgot my other memory card at home, I did have some pictures on my other camera and so my food post will be in 2 parts. Bon Appetit!

Tao Restaurant and Nightclub Las Vegas: our second night in Vegas we ate at the insanely popular Tao restaurant. Now, I am going to try and filter my opinion on this one to avoid sounding like a bitter 60 year old who has a bad hip instead of the 24 year old that I am. To begin, we originally made our reservation at 9:00 but then changed it to 9:30 because we decided to go for a drink at the bar there beforehand. We got there at 9:00 and told the hostess we had arrived and would be waiting at the bar. The music was way too loud and the bar was way too crowded for a restaurant… ooops, there’s the 60 year old… K, back on track. The bar was cool and filled with beautiful, well-dressed 30 something’s who all looked like they were only there so they wouldn’t have to wait in the insanely long line that was already forming outside for the nightclub. We had a drink, then another… then another… and at 10:15, I was tired and starving. Luckily, we met an older gentlemen at the bar who gave up his seat after seeing that I was wearing impossibly impractical 6 inch heels. Thank you sir… much appreciate. A few minutes later, a waitress holding menus came to find us and led us upstairs to a really nice table right at the glass overlooking the giant stone statue you see above, which was sitting atop a pond with giant Koi.

All of my negativity melted away when we sat down and our lovely table and were greeted by the friendliest waitress you could find. We ordered a few things (too many if you ask me) to share, and E ordered his own Sushi… I’m sure it’s delicious, but it just looks.. slimy :P

Love me some edamame :)

Overall I found Tao to easily be summed up in one word: overated. I found it too loud and crowded downstairs and in the nightclub, and even though the food was good… it was overpriced, even for Vegas standards.

Stripburger: tucked away on the North Side of the Fashion Show Mall on the strip, is Stripburger. My meal here was, surprisingly, one of the best I had my entire time in Vegas. We stopped here on a whim… well actually after hunger hit on a very long shopping trip and I was pleasantly surprised. Though the beers were a little big:

Look how big it is! Took too hands :)

Enough with the beers though, let’s move on the the important part: the burgers! Since I only started eating red meat a few months ago, I still only eat it a couple times a month and so when I do eat it… it better be good! Well, Stripburger was well worth it! I think I’ve only eaten a burger in a restaurant once or twice before, but this one was amazing… honestly, awesome! I opted for the trio of Mini Burgers, because I saw someone else’s burger and decided they would be easier to handle. They also make sharing easier… and I had to share!

Please note: the salad on the side instead of fries… heck yeah we can be healthy!!!

While E opted for something a little …. bigger ….

Did he finish it you ask… Of course he did! He’s a meat eating man and he would never leave food on his plate… Challenge accepted Stripburger!

I’ll drink to that! E didn’t mind lifting his… He loves working out!

I absolutely LOVED Stripburger. Our waiter was so friendly and helpful, the food was fresh and delicious and the prices were good. I would recommend it for lunch and shopping break, that is… if you can drag yourself away from the mall for a bite.

Rainforest Cafe MGM Grand: I know I know… the rainforest cafe is a big, hyped up, overpriced, overated scham. It’s also a place full of kids, which is why I knew E would like it :)

We ate there for breakfast one morning (the only place in our hotel, besides the buffet that had sit-down breakfast) and we actually had a really fun time. I love the fact that we were seating next to the water fall and that every ten minutes there would be a ‘thunder storm’ that would send the ‘animals’ into a frenzy. The kids would all look around… terrified for a moment, but then in amazement, as the Chimpanzees, Gorillas, Snakes, Birds and Elephants all made a big ruccus and the lights flickered on and off. It was fun… plain and simple. The food was good, the restaurant itself is a show, and we throughly enjoyed ourselves… this monkey especially

Have a great Wednesday afternoon everyone! I’ll be back tomorrow with a Vegas Fashion Post. I hope you didn’t drool too much on your keyboard :)

With Love,

S

Hey everyone! I know I promised more Vegas pictures… and I promise there will be more, but I’ve be completely swamped at work today and didn’t even get time to take a lunch break. I will do a good post tomorrow though, with plenty of pictures. So I’m sorry for my lack of blogging and swear I will make up for it tomorrow. But, until then, here’s a little preview… or teaser, for what’s to come tomorrow. Any ideas?

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

With Love,

S

As usual, the stars shinned on the red carpet at the Golden Globes the other night.  They all looked so beautiful but here are some of my favorites.

Angelina Jolie elegant as usual in Versace

Charlize Theron fashionable in Dior

Sofia Vergara sexy in Vera Wang

Jessica Alba stunning in Gucci

A shout out to the men who all look great but have it so easy.

Good Afternoon! I thought that, since it’s a bit quieter in the office this afternoon, I would post a few pictures from our first day in Vegas. Most of them are of E, since his memory card is in his camera at home, but there are some pretty good shots from our first day. The smile on E’s face in most of these is priceless; a true indication of how happy he is. Enjoy!

The quintessential Vegas picture! Everyone needs to take a picture of this sign… even if it’s just the sign for a gift shop. As a side note, E isn’t wearing a manpurse, but a camera carrying case… he played super tourist the entire time and I LOVED IT! It is so much fun playing tourist… and super tourist is that much more fun. LOVE

One of the things I really love about Vegas, besides the obvious, are the colors. I love how much of a contrast it is to the cold greys and whites we are so used to in Mtl. Don’t get me wrong, Mtl is beautiful in the summer, but this has got nothin’ on Vegas:

This is just depressing. When I tell people from warmer climates that I’m from Mtl, they say ‘oh wow! You’re so lucky! The snow must be sooooo beautiful!’ … Really? Yes, the snow is beautiful when it is coming down at night and you’re warm and cozy in front of a fire. Or when it’s freshly fallen and  glistening in the moonlight. But I don’t think these workers, working outside in the -30 weather are thinking ‘wow this snow is beautiful!’ But maybe I’m wrong …

Supertourist! Here to save the day! Haha.. I’m joking, he was so cute with his camera. Though he’s wearing a jacket here, he took it off about 5 seconds later and then I was stuck carrying it around for the day in my bag. Convenient how men don’t carry purses… very convenient. Here he is outside of New York New York. I have never been outside, but I love watching people on the roller coaster looking terrified.

With the Chinese New Year upon us, all of the hotels were decorated in honor of this celebration. The colors were that much more vibrant and the displays were spectacular. This dragon was in the lobby gardens at the Wynn and was only a small part of the massive decor. The use of the deep reds, bright yellows, shiny golds and jewel-tone purples against the greenenry and the lights was breathtaking, especially at night. Beauty.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the whole entire trip. That smile melts my heart and makes me so happy. He was so excited to be in Vegas and I was so happy to get to experience it with him. Behind him is the massive wall of water at the outdoor bar at the Wynn; our last stop before heading back for our massage.

Well, that’s it for now. I will do a Vegas Food and Fashion post tomorrow, but just wanted to share some of these. Have a wonderful afternoon and a great night.

With love,

S

Just kidding! Though it is always nice to get away and travel, I have to say that it is also nice coming home. Even if coming home means coming from Sunny 18 degree Vegas weather to snowy, cold and grey -29 Montreal weather. Oh well! Gotta make the best of it I guess :)

Sad times :(

On the bright side, E and I had an absolutely amazing time in Vegas. I mean, really, everything just went so smoothly and I think that we both can say we had an incredible time. When we arrived at the airport on Thursday morning, I was under the impression that we were transferring in TO so I wasn’t in a huge rush to get the airport since we were a bit early. When we got there, however, we were told that they had room on the direct flight so we wouldn’t be transferring. Lucky for us the airport was dead and we flew right through security and customs. Within 20 minutes of arriving at the airport, we were sitting at our gate enjoying a nice cup of coffee. The flight was smooth and we arrived early, just after lunch, which was great.

After my airport style post, I promised I would do a post about what I wore on the plane. Well, as you can see, my style is more comfort and less stylish. No Lady Gaga 6 inch heels or Kim K over the knee boots for me my friends. I opt for the laid back legging and big comfy scarf look. Just as an FYI my leggings are from Zara and are theee best I have ever found. Also, I was in heaven when I found this blanket scarf (also from Zara) the day before I left. It is huge and was perfect for keeping me warm on the plane.

We checked in at the MGM and went to our room to drop off our bags, change and then we were out the door to explore. I honestly love being with people when they are visiting a place they have never been to. I love how wide their eyes get while they are seeing it all for the first time and trying to soak it all in. I was so excited for E that I think couldn’t get out of the hotel fast enough. We grabbed a quick lunch and then headed out to explore for a little while before headed back to our hotel for a couples massage. It was sooooo soooo soooo nice and exactly what I needed.

Just before my massage… I’m sure they frown upon cameras in the changing room, but no one else was around … I promise.

After that, we went back to our hotel to relax and shower before heading out to see Ka by Cirque du Soleil. I’ve seen about 10 CDS and I have to say, Ka was one of the BEST. It was a beautiful story, with incredible music and the stunts were… well, let’s just say that no one does it quite like Cirque du Soleil. Being from Italy, E had never been to a Cirque and I think he was pretty impressed.

The show ended late, and we were pretty tired from the traveling, so we walked around for a little while and then headed back to the room. We were too tired to go out to the clubs, but not too tired for a hotel room party!

Overall it was a great first day. I will write a few more Vegas posts this week and I PROMISE I will post better pictures, but have to get back to the ‘stack’ of emails that are waiting for me as well as the messages on my phone. So happy Monday everyone!

 With Love,

S

While Miss S has jet set off to Vegas and is currently enjoying the wild times it beholds – I am stuck here buried in snow in Montreal. It’s wild out there.

Don’t feel too badly for me because last week I was sipping sangria by the bay and in two weeks I will be back at it for round two with the mommies. Yes – I’m going back!! I could get used to a life like this.

Despite the hectic situation unfolding on the roads, I ventured out with clients today to visit properties (I’ve gotta work sometimes to afford this travelling lifestyle I lead).  Thanks to this weather – my car wouldn’t start, one of my wind shield wiper flew off, I nearly rear-ended someone and I got stuck in a parking space (I take responsibility for getting stuck – I couldn’t find a spot so after driving around the block numerous times, I geared up and landed in one…more like a pile of snow).  It’s been…adventurous…to say the least.

The nicest thing about the snow is taking pictures. It is rather pretty out there.

With the weather dropping tomorrow (-29), I’m looking for a tv series to curl up to and watch. I’ve done the crazy ones like Dexter, Californication, Entourage, Weeds and Eastbound & Down. I’ve watched (and re-watched) the entire Kardashian series from one coast to another.  And I’m up to date on Made in Chelsea.  So…any suggestions?
